The IEEE Computer Society

For almost 5 years Applied Digital Imaging has been providing perfect bound proceedings books for the IEEE Computer Society.  When the IEEE Computer Society was looking at On-Demand digital printing to fulfill proceedings orders, they asked Randy Bilof of Quantum Publishing (www.quantumps.com), a publishing services company for advice. Randy, formerly with SPIE (www.spie.org), an international scientific society, and a contract editor for The Computer Society, suggested that the IEEE Computer Society talk to ADI.

Randy, who had had over 10 years of working experience with ADI, was quick to call on his old friends. From that point on ADI has developed a very good partnership with the IEEE Computer Society. To produce The Computer Society books, ADI and the IEEE Computer Society use an all digital, pdf workflow. When a proceedings book is ready to print, The IEEE Computer Society editor sends print specifications and requests a quotation. Once the job is awarded composed pdf files for the cover and the interior pages are uploaded to the ADI ftp site. ADI take it from there. They quickly send a hard copy proof of the cover and the interior pages, often with less than a 48 hour turnaround. The editor reviews the proofs and replies by email. The books are then printed, bound and shipped all over the world by ADI.

The majority of the books that ADI produces for The IEEE Computer Society are perfect bound, 8.5" x 11" books with a 2 or 4-color, laminated cover. ADI also prints similar type books in a 6" x 9" format and provide case (hardcover) books as well.
